ABOUT ME

I was born in 1987 in Brisbane and have lived here all my life. I've been married to my beautiful wife Yen since 2009 and have just become a dad. I have everything I have ever wanted. An angel of a baby girl and an admirable wife, who I love more than anything in the world.

Click this link here (not the word here, but this differently coloured bit of text coming up), if you want to meet my little angel.

My History

Richard Grainger and Yen Grainger

I've been a website designer for years. I have designed hundreds of websites, all developed from the ground up. I was pretty lucky and managed to pick up some great clients who loved my work and helped me progress.

But I'm sure you don't care about my website development history...

Well, I've been taking photos since 2010 and I'd rather not talk about how passionate I am about the camera. You can read about being passionate and 'all that' on every other photographer's website.

Instead, let me tell you about how I work

I won't be yelling out for attention at your wedding. In fact, I'd probably look like a guest if I wasn't holding a camera. An awesome part of my job, is that I always end up as good mates with my couples, who will be there to capture their moments as a close friend, rather than a photographer who is there to simply supply a service. And this is why my photos look the way they do.

My style of photo is all about telling a story and for one to unfold my clients need to do one simple thing - relax, enjoy the day and let it happen as it should. I won't be rushing you around or forcing time restrictions on such a special day.

I spend as much time with you as I can on your wedding day. You get to meet the real me and I get to meet the real you. I want your photos to be as real as possible. I want you to feel the emotions, remember the warm gentle embrace of your first dance and relive all those beautiful moments that happened.

Documenting weddings in a creative, fine art style is very important to me. It gives me the chance to see, capture, share and tell your epic story through differently composed images. Light and framing are crucial to me, but above all else, I gaze past the usual "technical issues" to see the moments, the laughs and the tears.

Oh, and on the rare occasion I can get a little jiggy on the dance floor... yes, a very rare occasion.

Other rad stuff

I photographed my first wedding on September 1st, 2012. Since then, I've been published and featured in The Knot, Style Me Pretty, Simply Peachy and Polka Dot Bride... as well as a few other little funky places.

After my second month of photographing weddings, I was contacted by SIGMA Photo Australia. I'm now one of their SIGMA Pro Photographers.

Other rad stuff? I needed another name other than, "Bragging time".
