It’s been about 5 minutes since I opened up my word document.
I don’t know where to start. I won’t give up. I’ll do my best to put this day into words. Words that won’t come close to how I truly felt about being part of this wedding. But I’ll try.
I will get there.
It started with a hug. When I arrived, Jacinta was putting together all her bouquets and vases while Glen introduced me to everyone, “Guys, this is Richie, he’s our photographer”. Jacinta saw me, walked over and gave me a hug, “It’s nice to meet you”, she said.
How does something so simple work away the nerves? Is it just one human, being kind to another?
I’m always nervous when I meet new people, especially when I fly interstate to photograph people I’ve never met. I know them. I just haven’t met them.
Both Glen and Jacinta turned that one simple hello and hug into dinner with their family and friends. They all ate and drank with me, as if they have known me all my life. The whole bridal party was one big family, not by blood, but everything else.
They made me part of this circle, even if it was only for a moment. Two days.
I’m glad I have these photos, not just for Glen and Jacinta, but for me. To remind me of the amazing people who I’ve got to meet on my journey and become friends with. I may never see them again, though I truly wish I will.
Glen and Jacinta’s wedding has also been featured in White Magazine.
