I’ve been sitting here thinking about all the things that happened on Daniel and Nekeisha’s wedding day. The way I was welcomed into their home, the love Nikkie and Daniel showed for their family and friends, the way their church brought them together as a couple.
I promised Nikkie that on her wedding day, I’d take photos of her and her grandmother. I wanted to do this for her, but unfortunately it didn’t happen. Her grandmother wasn’t well enough to attend the wedding or for us to visit. My heart sank and I can only imagine how Nikkie felt.
I want everyone to understand, that photography is important.
We need photography. It’s precious.
We need photos that can be shown when the power goes out, when all else fails except that dusty old album in the cabinet. We need those photos that will last forever, in our books and not just files on our computer or hard drives that depreciate. We need to be able to show our families their past.
Some people ask me why I want to shoot weddings for a full day. This is the reason.
But back to their wedding; Once Nikkie and the girls were ready, everyone came together at the church. The church that brought Daniel and Nikkie together. The church that Nikkie drives over an hour for, every week. It’s where and why they fell in love.
There was no better place to celebrate their marriage.
