When Temira first got in touch with me, she told me that her wedding was going to be small. It was going to be a Cabarita beach wedding and it was going to be extremely intimate. Temira said to me, that the one thing she cared about, was enjoying the day with their family. And everything else, didn’t really matter.
I didn’t know much else.
When I blog some of the weddings I photograph, I don’t really talk about what happened during their wedding day. I make small references and generally leave it at that. I like to talk about the couples story, which is what is most important to me.
But Ash and Temira’s wedding, had it’s own story.
I had never met Ash before. I had never spoken to him previously. I wasn’t sure what kind of person he was. But, I figured this all out from the first sentence he said to me.
“Hey dude, nice to meet you. Want some breakfast?”
Man. That’s the first thing he ever said to me. You can work out what kind of people you are surrounded by quickly.
I watched his son and his daughters run up to him, all morning, asking for hugs and kisses. They would run off, then come back 10 minutes later and hug his leg while he was making breakfast. He couldn’t put on his shirt without his son wanting to be around him.
After the ceremony, we came home, the kids jumped in the pool and fell asleep watching the TV. The day continued on and ended after our sunset shoot, with good drinks and the football.
