Just this morning, I was talking to Karl. Congratulating him and Laura on their baby girl, born only yesterday.
Their wedding, just a couple of months ago, at Cedar Creek Winery.
These two kind people, who I met just a few months earlier, have now added one to their family. And I sit here thinking, “What is it, that makes me want to meet this new, little person?”.
I only just met Laura and Karl.
I hung out with them for one day.
I took their wedding photos, then I went home.
It’s in that one day of 10 or so hours, that you get to truly meet that person who you are standing next to. You get to see them when they’re most vulnerable, and you get to see them partying with their best friends.
It’s when I saw Laura cry as her dad handed over a little box, with Laura’s mum’s wedding rings.
Or when Karl told me that he didn’t know what to write in his vows. He spent hours online, to learn that he had to ignore it all and write from the heart.
These are the kinds of moments I experience with my couples.
I realise, that is why…
