There are so many small things in life that make people happy. Two words, “thank you”, or a hug, a smile or even just a wave. It isn’t much, but at the same time, it’s more than enough.
I realise that I’m a lucky guy. I’m not sure what it is, but I keep meeting the most generous and thoughtful couples. People that think about others more than themselves. People that surround themselves with positive vibes and it shows.
It then passes onto you.
With each couple that I meet, I feel like I become a better person, learning the basic things in life; Like thinking of others.
On the morning of the wedding, five minutes after I turn up, Deanne walks up to me and says, “Can I have a hug?”. I gave her a hug and she pulls one of her hands from behind her back.
She says, “Rich, I don’t want you to forget us, so I got you a little gift”.
She hands over a small box with a ribbon.
I just smiled and pretended I couldn’t feel that tear trying to come out. I said, thank you, walked away and let that tear go.
It isn’t about how much, or how big. It’s about the thought and the kindness.
This is what matters most to me.
After the ceremony, I was told by the owners that I photographed the first real wedding at Maleny Mountain Winery. I hear they are just about ready to have receptions there too.
Deanne and Rangi’s wedding was also featured over at White Magazine.
